Whereas Schedule 40 and 80 PVC cannot exceed operating conditions higher than 140°F, CPVC pipe has a upper working limit of 200°F (93°C). While CPVC pipe and fitting is available in both Schedule 40 and 80, here at PVC Industrial Products we tend to favor the Schedule 80 only since its performance is much better with only a very small increase in costs.
CPVC pipe can make a critical difference if the transported fluid can be chemically corrosive or if fire and impact resistance is a factor. Many chemical and processing plants use CPVC for these reasons.
As with PVC pipe, joining is accomplished through solvent cementing, threading or flanging, insulation is generally not required, and extensive material handling and fabricating equipment is not necessary.
CPVC Schedule 80 pipe from PVC Industrial Products is available in 10 foot and 20 foot lengths with other lengths available on special order. We can also cut to shorter lengths in our Ottawa shop. It is normally available in plain end only but can be bell end with a special order, and we can custom thread our pipe as a special order. Our CPVC pipe and fittings are available in sizes from 1/2 inch to 24 inch with most items 1 inch to 12 inch being in stock at all times. No other store large or small in the Eastern Ontario region stocks pipe and fittings above 2 inch like we do.
